Our sleeping bags are the best option to keep your baby warm while they sleep😴. They replace the classic duvet, blanket, or sheet, ensuring they don't get cold and preventing them from uncovering themselves. This way, you ensure their body maintains a stable and ideal temperature🌡️ throughout the night. But, what TOG should my baby wear for sleep? At Petite Marmotte, we have designed our baby sleeping bags with different TOGs, so you can use them at any time of the year.
How to dress a newborn baby for sleep?
If you want to know how to dress a baby for sleep🤔, the first thing you need to know is the TOG. The TOG (Thermal Overall Grade) refers to the thermal resistance of a garment, so the higher the TOG, the warmer the garment will be. Our baby sleeping bags are laboratory-tested to determine the temperatures🌡️ for which they are suitable.

Discover what TOG your baby should wear for sleep and which baby sleeping bag is most recommended for your home's temperature:
| Rooms between 23º and 27º | ☀️SUMMER TOG 0.5 |
| Rooms between 21º and 24º | ☁️MID-SEASON TOG 1.5 |
| Rooms between 17º and 21º | ❄️WINTER TOG 2.5 |
⭐Another feature of our bubble bags is that they have removable sleeves in the winter TOG 2.5 and mid-season TOG 1.5 versions, which gives us a lot of flexibility when it comes to regulating heat. Removing the sleeves reduces the initial thermal resistance, which can be very practical if we notice our baby is sweating and we want to cool them down (or vice versa) without waking them up😉.
What to put under the baby's sleeping bag? How to dress my newborn baby depending on the TOG of their sleeping bag?
We know you have many questions about how to dress your baby for sleep, and it's important to remember that every baby is different; some are warmer than others. Generally, we always recommend that the baby wears their pyjamas under their newborn sleeping bag. Here's a table that might help you😉:

How do I know if my baby is dressed warmly enough for sleep?

Often, our little ones' extremities are cold while they sleep, which makes us think they are cold. However, this is not a good reference because their circulatory system is still immature and they tend to always be cold. A tip to know if your baby is too cold or too hot is to measure their temperature on their nape and neck.
😊If it's warm and dry, your baby is at the ideal temperature.
🥵If it's damp or sweaty, it means they are too warm.
We recommend following these suggestions so you don't overdress your baby and make them uncomfortable, but remember that no one knows your baby better than you.
How do I know what size baby sleeping bag my baby needs?
Enough to allow for freedom of movement, so they can easily bend their legs, and just right so they are comfortable and their sleeping bag doesn't fold or drag.
These are the measurements of our baby sleeping bags, recommended for babies between 0-6 months and 53-70 cm tall. Although we also have size 6-18 months in some collections: Stars, Mint Dots, and Olive.

How do I know what size baby sleeping bag my baby needs?
Do you want to know when to start using the baby sleeping bag? There's no specific time to start, so (as long as they're not premature) your baby can use it from day one😇. At Petite Marmotte, we've designed our sleeping bags for newborns up to 6 months of age. Their design is spacious and comfortable so as not to restrict the baby's mobility.

Should the baby be covered with anything other than the sleeping bag?
Pediatricians and sleep specialists recommend baby sleeping bags at any time of the year (even in summer), as it is the safest way for them to sleep because there is no risk of suffocation❌. Babies often move around, and if sheets or blankets are nearby, they can end up on their face. This way, just a fitted sheet and their sleeping bag would be enough😊; they don't need to be covered with anything else. The most important thing is to choose an appropriate TOG for the temperature of their room.
