TOG chart for babies
The TOG (Thermal Overall Grade) measures the thermal resistance of a garment, meaning the level of insulation and warmth it provides. The higher the TOG, the warmer the garment.
Petite Marmotte sleeping bags and wearable blankets are tested in an independent laboratory to verify their thermal resistance.
The choice of TOG depends mainly on the actual temperature of the room. This guide will help you find the most suitable sleeping bag or wearable blanket for your baby or child.
Measure the temperature of the room where the baby sleeps, preferably with a room thermometer. The actual temperature of the bedroom is a more reliable reference than the time of year.
The clothing you wear underneath will depend on both the TOG rating and the room temperature. As a general guideline:
These combinations are for guidance only. Regularly check the baby's neck or chest and adjust the layers to their needs.
Touch the back of the neck, the nape, or the chest. If the area is warm and dry, the coat is usually appropriate. If it is damp or sweaty, the baby is too hot and it is advisable to reduce the TOG or the undergarments. Hands and feet may feel cold without the baby being cold.
An excessive TOG rating can cause the baby to become too hot. Choose the TOG rating based on the room temperature and check how the baby is doing.
Not exclusively. Two rooms can have different temperatures during the same season. The most reliable reference is the actual temperature of the bedroom.
We do not recommend adding a blanket over the sleeping bag. It is better to choose the appropriate TOG and sleepwear to avoid overheating.
Yes. The sleeves provide extra warmth for the arms. If they are detachable, you can remove them to adapt the garment to the room temperature and the baby's needs.
The sleeping bag keeps the legs inside a single wide area. The wearable blanket pajamas feature separate legs and allow for greater mobility, especially when the child starts walking.
Petite Marmotte products have a generous fit. To ensure a proper fit, we do not recommend choosing a larger size just to make them last longer.
Our blanket sleepsuits can be worn with the feet covered or uncovered. The measurements provided do not include the sock section, which adds to the total available length when used.
Our products are generously sized; to ensure your comfort, we do not recommend sizing up from your age. The feet can be tucked inside or left out so that the pajamas last longer.
🤞🏼 These measurements are without the socks; if we add the socks, the total length of the pajamas increases and also extends their use.Contact us so we can help you and provide all the information you need!
