What is TOG? Discover how to dress your baby!

Making sure our baby isn't too hot or too cold is something that worries all parents. It seems like you never know 100% how to dress or cover them to find the ideal temperature. Do you want to know how to dress your baby according to the temperature? In today's post, we'll tell you the keys to dressing your baby for sleep based on the room temperature.

Many parents have probably heard about this. Although the name may not be common, TOG measures the thermal resistance of garments. Thus, in winter we should use a higher TOG to keep the baby warm and prevent them from getting cold. In summer, a lower TOG will be used to prevent the little one from getting too hot.

How is TOG measured?

To check if a textile item provides enough warmth and insulation, we use this unit of measurement. TOG is, therefore, a measure of thermal insulation that measures the resistance of an item. In the textile industry, it is used to verify and check whether a garment is warm enough or, on the contrary, will not protect us from the cold.

In addition, TOG indicates the thickness and volume of garments. Therefore, as we mentioned earlier, the higher the TOG, the warmer our little ones will be.

For example, during the colder months of the year, to keep the little one warm and maintain their temperature, we recommend TOG 2.5 in winter sleeping bags and blanket pyjamas. This way, you ensure they stay warm all night long and don't uncover themselves.

TOG 1.5 - designed for rooms between 20º and 25º

For spring and autumn, use TOG 1.5. Sleeping bags and mid-season blanket pyjamas are ideal to wear with a pyjama underneath.

TOG 0.5 - designed for rooms starting from 23º

Finally, for the warmer months, we recommend TOG 0.5 in sleeping bags and blanket pyjamas. They provide a "light sheet" effect and are the best option for summer nights.
