The transition from crib to bed is a very important change in a young child's life, so it's a good idea to do everything possible to make the change positive and go as smoothly as possible. To help you with this, here are some tips!

  • Choose the right time: don't rush to move them to a bed; if your child sleeps well in the crib, there's no need. Later, you might start noticing they move around a lot, wake up, and need more space. Another opportune moment for the crib-to-bed transition is when they can climb out of the crib on their own, and for safety reasons, a change would be advisable (this usually happens around 2 or 2 and a half years old).
  • A low bed is better: children move around a lot while sleeping. Ground-level beds (also known as Montessori beds) encourage their independence and reduce falls.

  • Use a protective cushion: perhaps your child is used to crib bumpers and now bumps against the wall, or maybe they move so much that they end up disoriented and sleeping at the foot of the bed. For this, our protective cushion is perfect, as it will snuggle them and provide security while they sleep. Do you want maximum security? By using two cushions, you can cover the entire edges of the bed!
  • Don't make changes alongside other changes: for example, don't decide to move them to a bed and take away their pacifier at the same time. Or do it when you go on vacation. Changes greatly affect little ones, so it's advisable to make them gradually.
  • Don't immediately start using adult sheets and blankets. Also, don't introduce a pillow if they don't need one. Surround the space with familiar items, such as their comfort blanket or stuffed animal if they use one.
  • Make the change gradually: it's not necessary for them to start sleeping through the night immediately; you can start by letting them nap in their bed or read stories in it. This way, the child will gradually become familiar with the bed.
  • Motivate them, encourage them, and be patient. If we explain the reasons for the changes and congratulate them for growing up, they will adapt much better to the changes. You'll see!
