As we know, it is essential for our little ones to maintain good sleep habits and get enough sleep, especially during the first months of life, when their physical and cognitive development begins. In this post, we tell you everything you need to know to identify the signs that indicate a lack of sleep in babies and give you the best tips to help them get the necessary hours of rest.
Sleep: how to tell if my child is getting enough sleep
As we said, it is essential to take care of our little marmots' rest: we must bear in mind that, besides the hours, the quality of rest is also very important.
It is common for some babies, despite sleeping the recommended hours, to have poor quality sleep, which causes tiredness and irritability, and in some cases, behavioral changes.

The topic of sleep can be complex and raise many doubts, as there are some factors that cause our little ones to wake up at night and can mislead us, such as sleep regressions and wake windows. Next, we tell you what the signs are that indicate your baby is not getting enough rest.
Symptoms of sleep deprivation
As we said, it can be difficult to know if our baby is not resting well or if they are simply following the natural course of their sleep: we tell you what the most common symptoms are to identify it!

Do you relate any of these symptoms to your little one? Don't worry, because in the next section, we give you the tips that have worked best for us!
The best tips to improve children's sleep

We advise you to have a fixed daily schedule, from the moment they wake up until you put them to bed: the routine starts from the moment the little ones get up! In addition to schedules, it is important to create an appropriate environment for each moment of the day: daylight and brightness during the day, and darkness and tranquility at night, so that they can easily identify when it's time to sleep.
Another important element is the room, as it is, after all, their little corner of the house: how about associating it with relaxing family moments? Stories, songs, pleasant moments... That way, when your little marmots are in their cozy corner, they'll already be thinking about bedtime! The temperature is also very important; we recommend keeping the room warm, between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius.
Finally, we recommend that for a couple of hours before bedtime, there should be no screens or stimulating activities! Otherwise, it will be much harder for them to fall asleep and they won't rest well.
Fighting sleep deprivation with routine

We can't stop repeating it: the best way to help them sleep is to establish a daily routine that changes as little as possible. Do you want to see an example of a routine that works great for us? Keep reading!
The first thing we do is bathe them, although if you decide to bathe them after dinner, that's fine too. We do it this way because, after the bath, they arrive super relaxed for dinner.
Afterwards, we give them dinner and put on their sleep sack: this moment is key, because once we put it on, they know it's time to go to sleep! This moment helps us induce sleep before putting them in the nest. Once we've put them to bed, we establish a little time for cuddles before they fall asleep. And that's how they're out like a light!
What did you think of this post about the signs that indicate lack of sleep in babies? As every week, we read you!
